BCM50 and CTI

I'm looking for guidance on my first deployment of CTI on a BCM. The client app is Salesforce. Forgive me if I am mixing up the jargon a bit, its been a long time (and its Monday)

 first question, if memory serves, the call server (or whatever we're calling the bcm) sends, via a TAPI message across the LAN to an agent as its presenting the call - True or false?

2 - Salesforce would have to accept the "packet" into its app, format and present to agent being sent the call - True or False
3 - How do I determine if Salesforce will work with a BCM formatted TAPI message?

can anyone point me to an overview and/ or details of what I am trying to achieve, of course the customer wants this deployed over Christmas.
