Passwordless SSH login with public key exchange
« on: January 09, 2014, 04:40:00 PM »
Hi,
I'm trying to setup SSH with DSA public authentication so I don't have to type the password when I login. I have enable SSH and SFTP in my 1220 SIP phone in order to copy the public key into my SIP phone, however every time I try to transfer any file to phone, it rejects it. Please advise on how to proceed further.

Thank you.

I found a work around for the SSH passwordless connection which is using an interactive linux shell tool called 'sshpass'.

Copy line below into a file called 'ssh-sip'.

sshpass -p<password> ssh <user>@$1

Make executable 'ssh-sip' script

chmod +x ssh-sip

Running below command in a linux terminal will provide an interactive ssh session on the 1220 SIP phone. We can also run commands from the PDT shell such as dbgshell which display debug info such as SIP events at runtime.

ssh-sip <ip-adress>

***IMPORTANT***
Script must be saved into a trusted server since credentials are stored in clear text.
