Nortel SIP 1120E /1140E Firmware
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:55:20 PM »
I have connected some phones to a non-Nortel system and they do work however every 30 seconds the phones do a "User Login"  and a very brief flash of "verifying licence" where the screen flashes and disconnect anything in progress including a call or programming screen is disconnected. Is a licence required for SIP to a non Nortel/Avaya system?

No license is required when you are registering nortel phone to 3rd party PBX as basic SIP phone. But while pushing the configuration you have to disable certain license feature on the phone which are enabled by default. Just check the below link, it will give you the basic idea for the config file require.

BTW you are registering to which PBX.

You'll find the configuration file you need to push to the IP phone to disable the "extended" features in this forum post;

https://forums.networkinfrastructure.info/nortel-ip-telephony/disabling-features-from-extended-feature-set-on-ip-deskphone/

Good Luck!

Thanks to both of you for your replies. It was from this same post I gathered the files I have tried.
Here are the ones I am currently using.
Obviously I have something wrong somewhere.

I am a Fortivoice installer and can normally get any SIP phone to work in just a few minutes.
