Disable SIP Pings when the phones are in failover
« on: October 10, 2013, 02:00:18 PM »

is there a way to disable SIP PING on AVAYA 1120e and 1140e phones when they are in failover.

I have a 1140e phone configured with 1 sip domain and SERVER_IP1_1 and SERVER_IP1_2 set to a primary and secondary outbound sip proxy. FAIL_BACK_TO_PRIMARY is set to YES and SIP_PING is set to NO.

When the phone is in failover on  SERVER_IP1_2 , I an seeing some SIP PINGs from the phone to SERVER_IP1_1. I assume this is because I have  FAIL_BACK_TO_PRIMARY set to yes. I find this odd as I have set SIP_PING to no.

The issue I have is that my SIP proxies do not respond to sip pings. So the phone never fallback to the primary proxy.

I have attached the config file  of one of my phones.

I this expected behavior?

I am using SIP firmware SIP1140e04.03.18.00.

Best regards,

Hi @Jason and welcome to the forums!

Have you tried setting "FAIL_BACK_TO_PRIMARY" to no?

Unfortunately, I don't play with these handsets too much myself in a non-Avaya environment so I'm only guessing.

Hopefully someone else will reply with better information.
