Avaya B179 DHCP options
« on: January 09, 2014, 12:32:25 AM »
Hi, can anyone help me with the DHCP scope options for Avaya B179 Conference phone. We have a windows DHCP server in the Data VLAN and would like the phones to connect to the Voice VLAN.

Thanks.

See the link below on how to setup option 191 or you can enable LLDP/LLDP-MED if your switch supports such protocols.

Thanks ferpor. I've added this option in the Data VLAN scope, but the phone still gets an IP from the data scope. Should it be added to the Voice Vlan scope as well?

Hi eby83,

Yes, you need to add DHCP and options to the Voice Vlan scope.  The Data Vlan is where the IP Phone Learns what its Voice Vlan is, so it should restart on its new Voice Vlan and then sends out a DHCP request where it wants to know its signalling server etc?
