Use ERS5500 stacking cables with ERS5600?
« on: February 06, 2019, 01:22:57 PM »
I've recently acquired a few 5698TFDs. I have none of the newer "black" stacking cables, but quite a few of the "clear" stacking cables left over from the 55xx series switches.

Can these older cables be used with the newer switches?

Will I have to enable hybrid mode to make them work?

Anything else I should know (other than that, best case scenario, I'll be bottlenecking the stacking connections at 80Gbps)?

Hi kthelen,

your Base-Unit must the 5600 and hybrid mode is possible with the 5500. Using the 5500 stacking cable will also limit your bandwith along by using the 5500 with 5600.

I personal would not recommend to build an stack with 5600 and 5500 (as well you'll need to use an "older" BOSS version on the 5600, which is compatible with 5500 boxes)

Good luck
