Update Firmware on a stack
« on: July 17, 2013, 04:25:31 AM »

How could a firmware (FW) update works on a stack? If I update the FW only on the base unit switch, will be updated also all of stack members?

In another stack, should the switch be rebooted if the POE firmware only be updated?

Thanks.

Hi nodeisup,

When you upgrade the FW on the base unit switch, then all of the stack members will also be upgraded.  Everything is rebooted while the upgrade happens.

You need to reboot the switch/stack if you have applied POE firmware.  Noting that POE firmware should only be applied if you are having issues with the POE.  I have only applied the POE firmware once on an old ERS4500 as it must have been corrupted during an upgrade.  Someone has written up issues they also had on an ERS4500
