Trunk config for Wireless Mesh - mgmt access problem
« on: August 24, 2020, 10:50:40 AM »
I'm trying to connect 2x avaya 4950ERS-GTS PWR+ using an Aruba wireless mesh. the remote switch is a 450 being upgraded to a 4950.

I've found that if I don't set the PVID of a trunk uplink as the mgmt vlan of the switch, I can't communicate with the switches management IP. (but I can with a nortel 450)

For the wireless mesh, I would like to have the PVID of wireless AP trunk set to the mgmt vlan of the access points.

The setup is as follows:
4950(mgmt vlan 1)(pvid2527)<-->AP mesh portal <--> AP mesh Point (Pvid 2527) <--> (pvid2527) 4950(mgmt vlan 909)

the remote 4950 is in a different mgmt vlan becuase vlan 1 can't be passed over the wireless mesh. nortel 450 is in place there now with this current config functioning successfully. (we are in the process of moving away from vlan 1 for mgmt campus wide).

Hopefully this all makes sense. What should I be doing to access the remote 4950's IP, and should I be taking any special STP considerations?

as a side question, does the 450 [tagged trunk] untag or tag the pvid?
