Switch Upgrade Script
« on: October 16, 2013, 05:20:11 PM »
Michael,

I was wondering if you know whether your switchupgrade script will work with the 56xx series switches, I know the code for both the 55xx and 56xx is the same but I've noticed some variances in the MIBs due to some hardware differences.  I'm currently looking at upgrading over 10 sites and would like to automate this as much as possible, I've looked at COM but its cost prohibitive at this time for me.  Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Charles,

I'm assuming you are referring to the Perl script I wrote quite a few years back?

http://mysite.verizon.net/michaelfmcnamara/files/switchupgrade.pl.txt

You could certainly adopt that script to work with the ERS 5600 series, I haven't done it myself just yet.

Cheers!

Michael,

Thanks for getting back on this, I'm going to start this afternoon since I have some down time and see if I need to do any adapting for the 5600's.  One quick question on the mib's when you are loading them do you load the entire group for are you only using certain ones?

Thanks,
Charles

Michael,

It looks like I have everything working after adapting the script to work with the 56xx series switches, didn't have to make many modifications at all.  I did end up loading most of the mibs to get rid of some of the error messages that were showing up on the console even though the script was working great.  Below is what I added to the script for the 56xx's, once again thank you.

Thanks for providing the updates... I really need to take some time and clean up all of my public scripts along with adding some documentation.
