Strange serial output on 5510-48T startup
« on: January 14, 2015, 12:30:41 AM »
I have a 5510-48T that I just received and my first instinct was to try factory resetting it. Upon hooking up the serial I found that the switch is failing one of the test. I have attached the logs as the forum software would not let me post the logs in code tags.

Log 1 is without a keyboard interrupt
log 2 is with ctrl+c as an attempt to stop the self check but it isn't recognized until much later in the boot process..

Any ideas?
Thanks

Looks to me as a hardware problem. Open a support case with Avaya or your VAR and have the switch replaced.

I bought this switch used so I guess I am SOL?

Doesn't sound good. Can you return it to whoever sold it to you? Selling broken goods isn't all that nice, I'd say!

The ERS5510 is covered by a lifetime warrenty. When you have ordered it from an official Avaya buissness partner it should be no problem to get an HW replacement.

Good Luck
It´s always the networks fault!

Yep, the logs show the switches have a hardware problem.  Since you bought them used (I am assuming not from an authorized reseller), the lifetime warranty is not going to work.  Best bet is to go back to the person you purchased them from as they are defective.

Only failed fan can be fixed, others fail related to hardware. The switch may damaged during shipment.
