SPB Multicast
« on: June 18, 2013, 10:43:45 AM »
Hi everybody,

i'm trying to do the SPB Multicast in ERS8800, but i had some trouble. The SPB is working and when i try the access to Multicast using the VLC doesnt works.
My topology is basic 2x ERS8800 with 1 Cobber, and in both sides 1x 5530-24TFD.

All TCG of Avaya is to big envionments, i dont have lot of Equipments to make it, so i'm doing my idea of using the TCG SPB of Avaya.
Someone have some envionment running SPB and Multicast together?

Dojs, I'm not familiar with Multicast, but hopefully you have Multicast globally enables on all (both) SPB-Backbone-Switches.
From my point of view a Multicast-Stream can be only assigned/announced with an ISID even if the switch is able to do SPB.
In your case the ERS-5530 is unable to act with SPB.
If you have a chance (for testing) to connect your Multicast-Members directly on your SPB-Core I guess it should work.
For L2-SPB you have to replace your ERS-5530 with ERS-4500 (SW v5.7 Beta) or for L2/L3-SPB with VSP4k.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hope I could help  :)

Hi MatzeKS,

i did the Multicast work yesterday. But not in IGMPv3, i need change to 1 and works. The SPB will work only in the ERS8000, not in edge switches. My new challenge is better delay of audio/video i record the videos in 1 receiver and with 2 receivers. If someone wants see my trouble im able in Skype to change them. 70Mb each.

Some idea to how do the Multicast work better?

I'm using the TCG MULTICAST OVER L2VSN
NN48500-617_v1.6_Shortest_Path_Bridging_TCG

It's good, but i have the topology above not 7x 8800 like the environment in TCG. So i'm doing my changes to do this work.

Hi Dojs,

I'm actually playing with SPB on our lab with 3 ERS 8000 (1 8800, 2 8600), 3 ERS 4826GTS (converted in VSP4800) and a VSP7K.
I use multicast diffusion over end-to-end and between different L2 VSN.
I don't really understand your problem, can you give more details ?

Soon i will have the VSP7000 to start again my lab

Ok Dojs.
Do you use transcodage option in VLC ? I have a similar behavior if I do not use it.
Also, you can test to reduce number of queue and increase buffer size per port to "Maximum".
-> qos agent queue-set 2  (this is the default value)
-> qos agent buffer maximum (default value is set to large).

I already encountred video latency issue on ERS 5000 series and this modifications solve issues by three times.

Actually, i have one HD stream between end to end, its work fine. in same time, i have a L2VSN to test video communication with new Avaya (radvision) devices. video quality is full HD (1920x1600).
Finaly, i have create another L2VSN for VoIP application with QoS. Every stream are in very good quality with no loss of data.

keep me inform when you will make tests again ;)
