SNMPv3 questions
« on: August 20, 2014, 09:45:01 AM »
Hello everybody !

After watching the topic on Michael McNamara's blog about snmpv3  , i'got 2 questions about this line :

5520-48T-PWR(config)# snmp-server view snmpView +1.3

What is a view? is it the same thing as a community or it's completely different?
And what does the +1.3 stands for?

Thank you for the answers !

The view defines wich snmp requests are allowed.

Here is an example MIB for the ERS5000:
ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9/tsoweb/ADS/e/ers/5xxx/Ethernet_Routing_Switch_5xxx_MIBs_6.3.1.zip

So sometimes you want that a snmp user can not request all available parameters with an customized
snmp view you can add and remove parameters from the mib view that can be requested.

Cheers
Itīs always the networks fault!
