SMLT issue after reboot VSP 7024
« on: August 31, 2017, 07:27:29 AM »
Hi everyone,

Yesterday I have implement SLT/MLT between my core switch and my access switch.

My conf:

Core switch: 2 stack of 2 VSP 7024 sw: 10.4.3.053 fw:10.3.1.5 linked by IST (2x 10gb interface)

Access switch have MLT going to core on SLT

VLACP and SLPP are UP on all port of SLT/MLT

Spanning Tree is down on all port of SLT/MLT

Vlan are the same on all port of SLT/MLT

Issue:

When I reboot one of my core stack, SLT doesn't mount, my Gbic interface come up but no traffic on the link.

If I set down and up a SLT port on my rebooted core stack, traffic comeback.

I didn't see anything on log file (on switch or COM+) and I have no idea to resolve that...

Thanks for your time and sorry for my english.

Hi RHS,

did you tried to change your SLT ports, just  for testing purpose?
Which type GBICs do you use? These are AVAYA originals or 3rd party?

We use hundreds of those SFP+ which can be AVAYA branded:

Good luck

All our sfp+ are official Avaya.

I have see ''discard untag frame'' must be disable on IST only for the VSP 7024... And it was enable when I had reboot.

Try using SMLT instead.  I found this in the Release Notes for 10.4.3.  Even though it may not be exactly your issue, it is worth a try.

VSP7000-721 - SPBM/SMLT: SLT port is shown as normal after toggling LACP mode on core and shut/no shut on edge
Workaround: Shut/no shut the affected SLT
Workaround: Use SMLT with single link LACP instead.

The implementation of SMLT/SLT between Avaya/Extreme nodes has to be done without LACP.

In meanwhile v10.4.4.023 is GA since Sep 6, 2017 - I'd recommend to upgrade the latest available release on both ends (including the ERS-4800) to see if this issue still exists. If yes, I'd recommend to raise an Servicerequest with Avaya support team.

Good luck

Hi guys,

Thanks for your help.

I have disable "DiscardUntaggedFrames" and VLACP on IST port, no more issues.

VLACP on IST ports on 7024 overload CPU
