Hello i have some questions about SMLT.

A part about My lan infrastructure ( sorry for bad drawing :)  )



C1=NORTEL 8306
C2=NORTEL 8306

SW1=AVAYA ERS 4548 PWR
SW2=AVAYA ERS 4548 PWR

Question 1:
I think there is no data trough in IST

So if link 1 and  link 4 are down ; PC1 and PC2 cannot communicate ?

Question 2:
In this architecture; i think algorithm of distribution is a modulo about Source Mac-Adress and Destination Mac-adress ; Is it right ??

It seems that communication path is always by the same links ( for a same client and same server) ?
for example the same clients and the same server comunicate always by link1 and link3 ?

Maybe you can adopt my draft for your needs - please make sure that all needed vlans are spanned across the IST, including the IST-Vlan. The Uplinks between C1, C2, SW1, SW2 must be set to tagged. The IST-Vlan is only assigned to the IST-Links.

My question is simple, can we down link 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 in this SMLT achitecture ?

Yet it seemed that no data is passed through IST unless exchange between hearts

In this case the two links are down, the entire data stream passes through the IST ??

Yes, thats the reason to assign 100% of your Vlans across your tagged links of IST-MLT.
I'm assuming that is one you've configured and IST on C1 + C2 and the IST is also active.
