SLPP config on 5520 not working
« on: April 27, 2020, 10:44:31 AM »
Hello All,

I have started to work in a new company and working with Avaya switching for first time. We have mix of Avaya 4950, 5520 and 5698 in our edge which connects to VSP-7254XSQ. Now I have SLPP configured on the 4950s and they are working as expected. The config is as below for 4950s:

interface Ethernet ALL
slpp-guard port 1-48 enable timeout 0
spanning-tree mstp port 49-50 learning disable
spanning-tree mstp port 1-48 edge-port true
spanning-tree bpdu-filtering port 1-48 enable timeout 0

5520/5698s are running STP and the config I have on them are as below:

deafult slpp-guard ethertype
interface FastEthernet ALL
spanning-tree port 1-46 learning fast
spanning-tree bpdu-filtering port 1-46 enable timeout 0
spanning-tree port 47-48 learning disable
slpp-guard port 1-46 enable timeout 0

However, the 5520/5698 config is not working. When there is a loop the uplink to the VSP is going down instead of the edge port where the loop is.

Can anyone please share what should be the config for the 5520/5698.

Hello SMNM,

Your configuration seems to be good but you need to check the SLPP configuration on VSP.
You need to send SLPP packet to all you Edge vlan. If the loop is in a vlan but no slpp packet are send into, the loop is not detected.
Can you share your SLPP cores configuration ?

Also, when you speak about software release, use the SW value not the FW.
