Shut Down Nortel ERS-8006
« on: January 13, 2014, 03:53:36 AM »
Good morning,

Apologies for asking a question with my very first post, but I'm wondering if anyone is able to help with the shut down procedure for a Nortel ERS-8006 switch?

The electricity/UPS in our server room is being worked on over the weekend and we will have to power down every device. I'm not too worried about the edge switches (460-24T stacks) but would like to avoid 'pulling the plug' on the core switch to power it down if there is a proper shut down procedure.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Matt Rossi

It is no problem to pull the plugs of your ERS8k to power it off.
I would save the config and copy it for safety reasons to the PCMCIA card.

You can only restart the ERS8k with the command boot, for a shutdown I would recommand to pull the plug.
Itīs always the networks fault!
