Shaping policy query
« on: February 12, 2014, 11:19:03 AM »
Can I do a shaping policy to restrict bandwidth for a particular set of protocols (based on port number) with a Nortel routing switch?

I have done this with Cisco routers.

Can't find anything in the QOS - Configuration for the 5500 documentation. Can see how to shape an interface but not the above.

OMG - Talk about frustration!
Here's what works for us, but it's not protocol specific...
https://support.avaya.com/public/index?page=content&id=S:SOLN218504

qos traffic-profile classifier name SecCam  eval-order 1 drop-out-action enable
qos traffic-profile set port 1/1-4 name SecCam meter-mode uniform-per-policy committed-rate 768 committed-burst-size 4 drop-out-action enable track-statistics individual

What doesn't work:
qos if-shaper port 1/1 name "Sec Vid Port 1/1" shape-rate 512 burst-size 4
or
qos if-queue-shaper port 1/1 queue 1 name "Sec MGMT 1" shape-rate 768 shape-min-rate 512

We were not having any luck with streaming media with if-shaper, but that did work with mixed media (WAN links_
