Routing problems with a avaya hybrid stack
« on: January 25, 2017, 09:02:14 AM »
Hello,

i'm having quite some problems with changing a config on our stack.

what i'm working with:
Stack of 4 2*5650  2* 5530-24 running OS6.3

We are trying to setup a extra routable VLAN.
We can add it in the config but for some reason it's not working, it seems like it's just not using the config we safe and keeps on running the config from memory. (@ least we think that)
When we traceroute to the new ip, the stack replies as first hop. This is correct.
When we ping to the IP address the stack doesn't know the address and forwards it to his default gateway and we don't get a reply.

What we do see is that the 3e unit in the stack seems to be stuck on a blinking status light (the turning off with pressing the UI button 9 times didn't work...)
could this status be holding back the stack in using the config we safe ?

We don't see anything special in the config and IP routing is enabled.
Anybody that would have a idee on how to ether fix the blinking status light or knows about this kind of problems with hybrid stacks.

Kind Regards,

Adam

From a code perspective, you should be OK.

Have you:
Clear log NV?
Clear log?
save config and reboot?

If you are on 6.3.2, move to 6.3.3 or higher ASAP.

Most likely cause:
The switch's default gateway needs a route pointing back to the stack's new IP range.  If the next hop is not aware of the routes, it will not know where to reply.
