Replacing old Nortel 5524 with new Avaya4826
« on: November 30, 2016, 01:49:52 PM »
Just wondering what is the best practice for swapping out old switches and moving the configuration to a new switch.

I have copied the running config over to the newer 4826.  But some of the settings haven't be configured.  I'm assuming because they are different commands.

Is this the best way to do this by coping the running config and pasting the settings in to the new one?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, that is your best bet.  If you are not already running secure code of at least 6.2.6 on your 5500's, the commands are different enough you have to do a full manual edit.
If you are on 6.3.2 or higher, the command gap closes significantly.
What I would do is build the config-file commands off-line and then copy/paste the result into the new switch.
