OSPF error in 8600 switch
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:26:53 PM »
Hi, We do have 2 8600 switches at distribution layer and OSPF is the routing protocol we use. All our LAN segments are advertised under area 0.0.0.101. However, recently I am getting the below logs continuously.

OSPF INFO VRF name: GlobalRouter (VRF id 0): verify_ospf_packet: areamismatch other_areaid=0.0.0.0 my_areaid=0.0.0.101

Can someone help what should I checking to resolve this? I had cross verified the OSPF configurations and everything looks fine. All the segments are advertised in the same area.

New VPN, Router or Firewall with OSPF enabled?  Default is area 0.0.0.0.
Also note Linux, Unix, and Netware can run OSPF, so verify you have OSPF passive on segments that are not involved with connecting to other Networking Hardware under your control.
We use Static and Local redistribution enabled and OSPF disabled on all segments other than those connecting to other routers and on an Admin VLAN spanning clustered routers (8600's and 5600's).

Hey, Thanks for the update. I had found the error. one of the segment was published in wrong area. I was not able to identify through cli. However, found it via device manager.
