NLB - VMWare - Nortel 5530-24TFD
« on: June 20, 2013, 06:11:28 AM »
Hello,

We have an NLB Microsoft 2012 Cluster with 2 vmware virtual machines.

I added an static arp entry to 5530 with this format:
ip arp 172.x.x.x MACADDRESS 1/13 vid 1

The problem is if we move the resources to the other virtual machine. The port change and I can ping to VIP NLB cluster but no telnet or any other thing.

Is there any command to add arp entry to entire vlan or multiple ports??

Regards
David

This is why Multicast is the recommended method with NLB.  This is I think the third NLB question this week -search the forums and you will probably discover a better method to use.

Hi TankII,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Our NLB is config on IGMP Multicast.
I don't find in the forum the solution to my question.

Can you help me please? Do you thing is better config NLB in Multicast mode (not IGMP)??

Thanks and regards
David

Search for Windows Cluster to see the recent calls for help.
I'm about to head out and get a Patient Monitoring server connected to an HL7 Interface with the Interface team, so I can't research the preferred config right now.

Hello,

I searched and saw that Windows NLB it's not a good choice. But I don't have any other possibility, the other answer in the forum didn't help me.

I have NLB in IGMP Multicast and added a static ARP entry on 5530 but if I move the virtual machine to another port on the same switch we lose the connection.

Any solution to apply static ARP entry to the entire VLAN not to specific port??

Thanks and Regards
David

Did you enable IGMP on the VLAN? What you can try is create a seperate VLAN and enable IGMP and when you create the Windows NLB cluster choos option IGMP. Do not add the static arp entry and see if it plays nice.
