New VSP 7000 Software v10.2.1
« on: August 01, 2013, 11:31:48 AM »
It's that most special of days for VSP 7000 owners, new code day!  I love that new code smell.  It smells like overtime...   :)

Looks like a mix of a couple new features and a handful of code fixes.  As always, read your release notes.

Sounds great, have to try SW 10.2.1 in the LAB.
Cool that the OOB Port is working with 10.2.1 , on the ERS56xx switches we had to wait so long until Avaya
brought life into the OOB Management Port.
Itīs always the networks fault!

I can't see v6.6 coming out this year with v6.3 still having that new code smell still on it.  Any idea if it will be a 2014 or 2015 target for v6.6 code release?

Along with the bugs fixed in 6.2.6 showing back up in 6.3.1...

Which reminds me...any news on 6.3.2?  Sometime?  Soon?

I heard the rumor that 6.6 should be released Q3 2013.

SW 10.2.1 looks good at my first test, I will run a few more tests and try it on a production VSP7k soon.

Wish I'd seen telecom116's comments before upgrading a bunch of my edge closets (55x0's) from v6.2.3 to v6.3.1 last weekend.  I have a couple switches affected by the "shared port changes duplex on reboot" bug and was hoping the upgrade would negate that.  Imagine my surprise when I get calls about slowness on Monday and find the duplex setting on a couple links (just the ones to media converters) had dropped to half from full on the last reboot.  *sigh*

I downgraded one switch (at a remote location that's susceptible to power outages due to thunder/lightening storms) to v6.2.7 which seems to have the issue licked, but I don't want to have to do that to any of the stacks.  So I'm wondering, does anybody know if they're going to get rid of the reintroduced bugs?

Yep. Nine sites with particular MetroE provider using forced speed/duplex. ERS 5520 switches.  Uplink on shared switch port 48 or 24.
 >:(

Think it's time to contact my Avaya salesman and SE.
