A bit surprised coming out with a new dot-zero version 4.2.0 of the VSP4000 software so soon after 4.1.0 was released in February.

Still working on completing placing it into production in our network.

v4.2 introduces support for the VSP8400.
it also changes the Licensing model.  Everything that was in the advance License like the vIST is now a base feature.
Leaving the premier license the only add-on you would need to buy, that just enables L3VSNs/VRF.

Hi Dominik,

I have one VSP4850 switch which has issue "Verifying Checksum ... Bad Data CRC - Ramdisk image is corrupt or invalid". From your post below, I enter Diag mode, initialize flash and run agent code. After that, booting the switch still has the same issue.

https://forums.networkinfrastructure.info/nortel-ethernet-switching/vsp-4850gts-ec4800a78-e6-boot-issue/msg18080/#msg18080

Can you help me to solve it?

Thanks,
Tuan

Wich SW version do you run on your VSP4850 and wich HW version do you have.
Does your VSP4k was working normal or does it show this error since day 1 ?

Software is release 3.1, I see HW:10 as label on the switch. When configuring the switch, power was lost unexpectedly, then we see error.

I had a similar problem with a VSP4450GSX , my problem was solved by the Avaya support. In my case the issue had to be fixed on the Linux system that is not accessable for the useres.
I think you have to open a case at the Avaya support.

I just updated some VSP4k to SW 4.2.
Once again the update procedure as discribed in the release notes did not work exactly.

In the Release notes under SW update:
Quote
software activate 4.2.0.0.GA
Code: [Select]
Executing software activate for version 4.2.0.0.GA.
Release 4.2.0.0.GA does not exist in /intflash/release/.

SW 4.2 is installed in the path /intflash/release/VSP4000.4.2.0.0.GA
so you have to use that command for the update:

Code: [Select]
software activate VSP4000.4.2.0.0.GA
Not sure why Avaya is changing with every new release the release path.

Cheers

PS
In the EDM now Ports that are disable also flashing like it is on the physical LEDs. So you have some blink blink
on your screen now.

I do believe I have some bragging rights:
4x VSP8400 running 4.2.0.0 in a production environment alongside 2x VSP4450 av 12x VSP4000. In addition 14x ERS4850 with SPB plus approx. 40x ERS3500/ERS4500and ERS5500/5600.

All of this at 79 degrees north, just 1.231km from the North Pole....

All the best from (almost) the North Pole!

@onikolaisen

That sounds like a lot of fun.
I suggest cooling is no problem in that area.

How about releasing a couple of new features  :)
Just did the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.2 on two 4450's without any issues. Like dominik I had to check the release name of this new code before being able to upgrade as Avaya has changed this. Confusing but a no-brainer. Although I have setup a basic configuration, everything went smoothly.
Finally IPv6 features are available. Will start using these new features soon and see how it works. If everything works fine I will upgrade other 4450's as well.
