Mirror port, only for specific subnets
« on: May 09, 2017, 02:58:19 PM »
Hi, I've got a question ..... we have an Avaya VSP8284XSQ. I have created a mirror-by-port :
  • mirror-by-port 1 in-port 1/2 out-port 1/40
  • mirror-by-port 1 mode both
this however gives me way to much traffic. How do i create a filter that i only traffic on port 1/2 for two subnets is mirrored to
  • to 192.168.220./24
  • from 192.168.220./24
  • to 10.10.0.0/23
  • from 10.10.0.0/23
to port 1/40 where i've got my sniffer connected ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi tover,

I guess this cannot be handled by the VSP, this is more related to you by creating an "capture filter" on your appliance or sniffing tool, maybe Wireshark.  ;)

Good luck

Hi Matze,
I am aware of filtering in wireshark and the likes, mut I think the VSP can do it. In this case it makes more sense, for the interface to capture, is a 10Gb link where the capture device is capable of just handling 1Gb
