Hello everyone, I have been following this forum for about 2 years and usually can find my answer from just searching the blogs or the forums, but i cant find any info on using LLDP without the use of ADAC. I know that in the past Blogs Mike has showed how to set up LLDP, but only with the use of ADAC.

My equipment:
- ERS 5520 V6.2
- 8800 Chassis v7.1.3
- Avaya One-X 9620

- Do i need to use ADAC for LLDP to work?

- If not are there any advantages to using ADAC with LLDP over just using LLDP?

- I know that ADAC gives LLDP infomation for LLDP-MED dose ADAC tell the LLDP-MED the VLan-ID the phone should be one.

My end goal is to just be able to plug the phone in and only put the TN# and the sec code. Right know i have the dhcp-server sending the information for the call-server, and file server, and default-gatway. The DHCP server is on the same subnet as the call server and is 100% separate and non-routable through our data network.

You can run LLDP without ADAC.  I have not labbed it that way, but when you run the LLDP commands on the ports, it assigns the appropriate VLAN to the ports involved.
lldp tx-tlv local-mgmt-addr port-desc sys-cap sys-desc sys-name
lldp tx-tlv dot3 link-aggregation mac-phy-config-status maximum-frame-size mdi-power-support
lldp tx-tlv med extendedPSE inventory location med-capabilities network-policy
Global for Avaya RED phones:
lldp vendor-specific avaya call-server X.X.X.X
lldp vendor-specific avaya file-server X.X.X.X

Per port:
lldp med-network-policies voice dscp 46 priority 6 tagging tagged vlan-id (Whatever you have designated as your voice VLAN)

Additional items if you have Avaya RED phones:
lldp tx-tlv vendor-specific avaya call-server
lldp vendor-specific avaya dot1q-framing tagged

If you are not going to use ADAC Uplink Port commands, you will need to tag the vlan manually to the switch and assign the uplinks to a DSCP trusted qos if-group.

Is there a reason you do not want to use ADAC? It takes care of the VLAN configuration of the switch port when a phone is connected as well as the QoS settings.
