IPTV intermittently connects to multicast streams on ERS-8300
« on: October 06, 2014, 04:27:23 AM »
Dear Experts,

We have ERS-8610 (5.1.8.1) at CORE & ERS-8310 (4.2.3.10) at Distribution and ERS-4550T-PWR (SW:v5.6.5.013) at EDGE SWITCH STACK of 3-Switch.

IPTV FIBER OPTIC CABLE is Terminated directly connected to the Core Switch coming from the Service Provider.
When the issue comes, IPTV dosent work at all (VLAN-305 is the IPTV VLAN & VLAN-244 is the CCTV VLAN).

VLAN-305 --> IPTV VLAN (Multicasting is Enabled on the Core Switch & IGMP with SNOOP is enabled on Edge Switch)

VLAN-244 --> CCTV VLAN (Multicasting is Enabled on the Core Switch & IGMP with SNOOP is enabled on Edge Switch)

Issue :

IPTV intermittently connects to multicast streams on one 8300 where other 8300 downstream IPTV receives all the multicast channels. Itís a long intermittent issue that has been occurred several time. Last time it was resolved by disabling CCTV VLAN but again it occurred so upgradation was suggested. Still issue is intermittent.

Findings :

1.) Checked ERS 8300-Butler and ERS 8300-HOTEL configuration and IGMP status which was good.
2.) Checked the config for IGMP on 4500 connected to
3.) Edge 4500 connected to ERS 8300 - unknown multicast Ėno flood is enabled on VLAN 305.
4.) Proper snooping/proxy/mrouter ports and query interval on VLAN-305 on ERS-4500.

Avaya Case # SR 1-5193251120 was already Opened, but didnt found any solution yet (You can find all Attachments in this case for Reference).

Do let me know your valuable suggestion.

Thanks & BR,
