I bought another one
« on: May 29, 2014, 10:34:25 AM »
I happened to be browsing ebay showing a friend some stuff yesterday when I came across a 5520-48T with one bid at $49.99 and 2hr remaining. I watched it, then threw in a $75 bid at the last minute and won for $51. So now I have a 5510-48T, 5520-48T, and 5520-24T, and happen to have 3 cascade cables. I got the two together with cascade and the webview manager showed them together, the interface was incredible.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help, I'd still be fiddling with a linksys srw2048 without the support here. I think i'm mostly out of the woods, but I'll be back periodically to try and return the favor.

Here's my rack, you can see the two switches at the top. It's really starting to look semi-professional.

Nice setup you put together.  Still going to look at adding a 5530 in to that mix?

A 5530 would eliminate the need for the rest of the switches as i'd have 10gb to the vhd and file servers instead of 10 paired nic's. That free's up 20 ports right there. I think I'll be ok with the 48port 5510 and 48port 5520. If a 5530 comes up for $100 I'll probably jump on it, but for $350+, just more than I'm looking to spend. Plus, I love the webui when you have multiple switches hooked up.

Powered everything on last night to test and see if I had forgotten anything. I cooked both my UPS's, they won't even turn on now. When I plugged it into the wall, everything kicked on at once, and the lights in the house dimmed for about 5 seconds.
