HW WARNING portPollGbitEther ... Link is unstable
« on: December 11, 2014, 08:10:15 AM »
Hi everybody, could somebody help me to understand this strange symptom that happen in our ERS8600. Maybe it happens to you too and maybe you have a solution for that kind of problem :

Sometime with our ERS8600, one port may become suddenly non operational without any reason. During the incident :
- No lights on this port turn on
- No connexion with this port but with the endpoint could work other port of the same card
- it could be happen in different port and different card of the 8010
- we replace already the card having the problem but the problem appear again after many days in the same port or different port
- Each time that appear this problem we restart the system and then the problem gone until one day appear again
- each restart we receive this message :  HW WARNING portPollGbitEther: 1/6 port down , the Link is unstable !
- For this exemple 1/6 port down, we take out the module and insert it again, then the problem gone.

What software version are you running on your 8600?  Does the problem seem to happen on a specific type of card, or across many different cards?

What model of card? What CPU? There are quite a few different cards each with their own entertaining issues and pitfalls. If it's an 8648GBR then you might need to upgrade the FGA or PIM software release.
