How to stack two VSP 4450 Switches ?
« on: April 30, 2018, 03:44:55 AM »
Hello team,

Does the VSP 4450 switches cores support stack ? if so how to configure this stack between two VSP 4450 ?

I went through the doc, but no thing found regarding stack configuration, like ERS series (3500, 5000...etc)

I want to stack this two Switches, and then connect with other Switches in the building through Fiber, by configuring MLT trunk...

please any help ?

Thank you in advance

Hi nortavaya,

VSP4450 runs on VOSS, where is stacking currently not supported.

Indeed the ERS-Series (3500/3600/4800/4900/5900) are able to build stacks up to eight units.
Here you're free to build MultiLinkTrunks (MLT) up to 8 links (same speed) distributed over each unit (DMLT) between those ERS with ease. Of course this MLT is free of SpanningTree.

ACLI:
enable
conf t

mlt 1 enable member 1/48,2/48,3/48,4/48,5/48,6/48,7/48,8/48 learning disable

end

# that's it

Good luck

Thanks MatzeKS,

You means that I can build MLT between this two VSP instead of stack that's not supported on VOSS
I see, I think I can also use vIST between two VSP to built a cluster of network core
Then, I plan to connect every ERS 3500 switch to this VSP (network core) through mlt links over fiber

don't hesitate if you have any other suggestion or same configuration example

Thank you

ok, lets clarify this  ;)

- you can't build one logical stack with more that one VOSS devices

- this is possible only with devices on ERS serie, but you can't mix between

- of course you can build an MLT between VOSS devices, but this is not automatically an virtual InterSwitchTrunk (vIST)

- building an switch cluster with VOSS devices is of course possible, but need additional configuration

- your ERS switches can connected redundant to each of this VOSS device like an triangle

- Fabric Attach Server (FA Server) on VOSS side and FA Proxy (on ERS side) would be the right combination

Good luck

P.S.:

If you're fast you can download the document library for free from Avaya Support sites before they remove all of this content
