ESX IP Hash with Avaya MLT
« on: April 24, 2014, 10:55:01 AM »
Hi everyone,

I want to use the IP Hash option of ESX to rely 2 NIC to our Avaya 5520 switch. LACP can be use only on Distributed VM Switch which we don't have. So my only option remain with the MLT.

But I can't find someting official from VMWare telling it is supporting MLT. They have some KB to explain how to use it with Etherchannel or HP Procurve trunk. But nothing about MLT. See and exemple here :

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&externalId=1004048

So anyone here in this forum is using MLT with ESX and having no issue at all ? My understanding of the MLT protocol is that it work the same as others. But I would like to have something official saying it is supported...

Thanks.

Avaya MLT/SMLT is compatible with Cisco Etherchannel technology.  So wherever Etherchannel can be used, so can Avaya's MLT technology.

It's a good point sir !

So we'll try it in dev before include it in prod.

Thanks !
