I bought an ERS3526T-PWR+ series network switch that I am unable to access or initialise due to a lost password, I asked the owner! I suspect it has been secured somehow due to the limited menu options. I have connected via Serial using ExtraPutty which has a Y-Modem file transfer feature.
"Ctrl-Y" with the user "RW" and the password "secure" does not allow access.
So then I rebooted and pressed "Ctrl-C" and got Bootloader Vn 1.0.0.3

The menu says:

1 Download            Diag
2 Download            Agent
3 Download            Boot loader
A Continue Boot    System
B Reset

"i" returns to the bootloader menu and doesn't do anything. A continues, B reboots rather than resetting anything.

Options 1, 2 and 3 only allow a Y-modem file transfer (i.e. no TFTP option)

Using option 1 I have used Y-modem to uploaded the ERS3500_b5_3_0_1.bin bootloader file which I obtained from the Avaya dealer support web site. The file copied successfully. There was no Reprogram Y/n prompt although I am not sure there should be one.

When the system reboots it still has bootloader 1.0.0.3

I don't know if there is another instruction I need?

Am I working along the correct lines? Can anyone give me some advice on how to recover this please? Get the proper menu back? Reset the passwords. Do I have the wrong default name and password?

The unit does get an IP address from DHCP if I attach it to a network.

Hi,
"i" for [Initialize Config] should exist in your Boot-Menu.

Additionally please try "RW" and "securepasswd"

Hi Matze

I have tried those options and neither works... I am at the point of using Ymodem to try and reflash the software, I am just unsure as to what the breakdown of the steps is. Or which order or even wether this will fix my problems... do I need a specific agent .img file for this bootloader.... etc

Please upgrade your Bootloader (Diag) first via TFTP and direct connected PC with TFTPD64 running & configured.

In Diag Menu you need to choose option [1] and follow the dialog:
1 Download            Diag

The latest available diag is [3500_5308_diag.bin], upload this to your ERS-3500, reboot that box and then you'll have this option available.

Good luck

Thank you for this, I will do this first. TFTP is not working but I believe I can do the same over Y-Modem. It's a bit slow but does get there eventually.

Regards

I guess there is no option for X/Y-Modem.

TFTP works perfect, I did this several times

Once any file is downloaded (diag or Agent) the interface skims past the "Program y/N [N]" prompt and says "BOOTLOADER BREAK MENU"

Then returns to the bootloader menu as per the attached image.

Massive thank you to @MatzeKS who took time out to do some remote support. Cured by the use of magic as far as I can tell!
