ERS 8606 - Activate SPBM instance on interface via GUI
« on: July 12, 2016, 09:27:58 AM »
I have the old ERS 8606 with ACLI, that sucks - this is not the BOSS ACLI or VOSS ACLI which I can, but some old one... I have no idea, what OS version is on it, I can't find this info.

There is the SPBM active, ERS 8600 is the BCB and there are some other BEB switches. I have to configure the new VPS 7200 as BEB. Right now I need to activate the SPBM instance on my uplink interface. Where can I do this? I don't see this option.

Hi mixthoor,

on ACLI the config is much faster  ;)

# ACLI:
conf t
interface Ethernet [SPB-Uplinks]
encapsulation dot1q
isis
isis spbm 1
isis enable
no spanning-tree mstp  force-port-state enable
no spanning-tree mstp msti 62 force-port-state enable

exit

The orange lines will be added automatically in VOSS 5.x by activating ISIS and SPB and needs to be manually added on VxWorks (ERS-8xxx)

Good luck

I know, but it doesn't work on this old switch... There is no ACLI like in BOSS or VOSS, but something older...

BTW - Can I upgrade CLI on the ERS8606?

sure, you have to upgrade the ERS-8600 to v7.x, that includes migration from NCLI to the Avaya-CLI (ACLI), additional you have to keep in mind that you'll need an 8692 SF CPU with SuperMezz or 8895 SF CPU, only R-/RS-Modules are supported with v7.x and finally you'll need an Premier License to activate SPB.

This is a very old CORE SW, that is still working. it is 12y+ old.
We need to change the core sw in the future, so I will use the GUI for other SPBM config.

But - thx for a info! I appreciate it :)

I guess you missed the thing that you have to migrate to v7.x to have SPB available  ;)
You can't configure/activate SPB in your current "very old CORE SW"

You have right, I see:

Code: [Select]
SWITCH:5/config/ethernet/4/10/isis# ?

Sub-Context: spbm
Current Context:

    hello-auth type <value> [key <value>] [key-id <value>]
    create
    delete
    disable
    enable
    info
    l1-hello-interval <seconds>
    l1-hello-multiplier <seconds>
    l1-dr-priority <integer>
-----
Code: [Select]
XXXXX:5/show/sys# info
*******************************************************************************
Command Execution Time: WED JUL 13 12:47:47 2016 UTC
*******************************************************************************

General Info :

        SysDescr     : ERS-8606 (7.2.11.0)
        SysName      : XXXXX
        SysUpTime    : 371 day(s), 03:54:06
        SysContact   : http://support.avaya.com/
        SysLocation  : XXXXX
How can I change the CLI into ACLI?

you have to activate ACLI and save the current (NNCLI) config in the new (ACLI) format

Please have a view on that Document Library http://support.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100166011 for more details.

Good luck  ;)
