Dear All,

We have seen this issue y'day when we have upgraded one of the Cores to v 51.8.3 from v 5.1.5.1 where all the line cards have stopped responding and started generating these logs

rarSetIeeeVlanRL:Counter Allocation Failed
CPU5 [07/27/13 20:08:33] HW INFO

CPU5 [07/27/13 20:12:41] HW INFO

rarSetIeeeVlanRL:Counter Allocation Failed-line: Slot=4 Type

rarSetIeeeVlanRL:Counter Allocation Failed

Once we have pulled out all cards and inserted one at a time they started coming online.

However there are a couple of cards in slot 9(8608 SXE) and Slot 10(8608 SXE) which are online however no ports on the cards are operational.

Can you please suggest if anyone else has faced a similar situation.

Regards,
Lalit

We just completed our upgrade two weeks ago on our 8606, all 'E' modules with 8691's and 256MB RAM/16MB Flash/16MB PCMCIA.

No problems.

Our 8610 (The other side of the IST), running R and RS modules with 8692's w/MEZZ and in 'R' mode, also upgraded without incident.

I would like to note one oddity.
I run Java Device Manager in a Windows XP VM on my Windows 7 Pro laptop.  It does not report the VLANID properly in the VRRP table.  The VM is running the latest Java version. Running JDM under Windows 7 and Java 1.5.0.10 (Required for Kronos) has no such issues.

Have you upgraded the chassis with the High-Performance backplane?  In the old chassis I seem to remember limitations on what you put in slots 1 and 10 with older 8610 chassis due to backplane limitations. Several years ago the upgrade was about $2k and involved a chassis exchange with Nortel/Avaya.

Our 10-slot already met that criteria (It was purchased with an 8630GBR and 8692's), though we started at slot 2 anyway
The 6-slot will be part of the trade-in/trade-up chassis swap when we upgrade it next year.
