ERS 5632fd
« on: June 13, 2013, 04:09:10 AM »
I'm facing problem with 5632fd. I'm using the switch as distribution switch and the problem is the user can't get an IP, I have configured the DHCP relay, OSPF configured correctly and I can see the neighbor and the other network. I attached one picture it show that the data vlan is sending request to the DHCP but there not a single reply. I've tried the same configuration on 1624 and it's working perefectly with the same Vlan. also I update the switch to the latest Software 6.3.1.x, but still not working, any body face this problem before or have any idea how to solve it.

appreciate

Hello Edward,

You should check the following:
- is routing globally enabled (in JDM/EDM IP -> IP -> global)
- does the switch have ip addresses in all vlans (IP -> IP -> addresses)
- is routing enabled for the vlan (vlan -> vlan)
- is DHCP enabled on the vlan interface (vlan -> vlan -> select vlan and click ip button -> dhcp tab)
- put a client with fixed ip address in the affected vlan: ping the local address of the switch (gateway), the switch address in the subnet with the dhcp server, and the server itself.. If these fail, use tracert to figure out where the error is..

If these are all ok, then you should check your server to make sure your scope definitions are correct.

thank you johan for answering

all the steps you mentioned were checked I also try to have a fixed IP and ping the gate way and it work fine. also as I mentioned I tried the same configuration on 1624 with the same vlan and it work fine, but when it come to the 5632fd switch I don't know why it is not working and how to fix it.

Hi.

You indicated that with a fixed IP you can ping the gateway. Were you able to ping the DHCP server?  Check the routing table to make sure you have a route to the 192.168.12.xx network.

It could be a routing issue rather than a relay issue.

If however you can IP the server then as Johan said, there could be a DHCP scope problem.  Do you need the Option82 on VLAN 171?  For troubleshooting purposes, try removing that Option.

Hello Edward,

a quick look at the config shows that you have 3 ip interfaces:
vlan 1: 10.9.9.9/24
vlan 171: 172.22.7.1/24
vlan 1000: 192.168.99.60/24

in your dhcp-relay you relay from 170.22.7.1 from 192.168.12.12 and .13, but you don't have a path to the server. Either you need to change the ip on one of the vlan interfaces, or you need to add a vlan.
