ERS 4850 Access to EDM
« on: May 07, 2015, 04:57:58 AM »
Hi!

How to configure access to EDM?

I set up a username and password to the console and shh, but no access to EDM "Authentication Failed!".

Where to look?

normally you just configure the username with correct rights and that should be it..

eg:
username "admin" "Password" RW

you can use that user for serial and telnet access also with following commands:
cli password serial local
cli password telnet local

that's odd..

could you paste the configuration block with the users/passwords? (replace passwords by xxxx)

Rosamor,

if you run a "show run" command, it should give you something like following for the first few lines.. It's these users that the system uses for EDM access (and serial/telnet also if configured)

enable
configure terminal
!
! *** CORE ***
!
sntp server primary address x.x.x.x
sntp enable

telnet-access logging all
cli password serial local
cli password telnet local
username "RO" "xxxxxx" ro
username "RW" "xxxxxx" rw
Kind regards,

looks ok, except for no users. Try adding one with the command:

username "name-for-admin-user" "Password-for-admin-user" RW

Now create new user "user1" and Authenticated OK. I logout. I try login with user "admin" and Authenticated OK.

Magic.

Johan, thank you for all your help.
