ERs 4550 / ERS 5520
« on: July 11, 2017, 07:25:26 AM »
Hello All,

I have a very unusual issue. It looks like two of my switches freak out and restart on itself. In the log :

0   2106-02-06 06:28:15 GMT   5   msgSrcNVR   Task tLLDP is suspended
0   0 day, 00h:00m:19s   6   msgSrcCurrent   Web server starts service on port 80.
0   1970-01-01 00:01:51 GMT   7   msgSrcCurrent   Sw Exception: Task tIdt, Type Data Access, PC 0x00f6c748, SP 0x0422deb0
0   0 day, 00h:00m:31s   8   msgSrcCurrent   Port 0/23 reenabled by VLACP

So far, I have upgraded the switches to newest version, I also replaced a switch, but still keep happening.

The odd thing is I have 6 other locations connected to my core and they are working OK.
Any ideaS?

Hi All,

I am running on my 4550T >> SW 5.7.3.030. Earlier I was running a 4850 GTS PWR switch with 5.10 SW. That was giving the same error.

Have you changed the SNMP community strings from the defaults?  If you have something scanning the network like netdisco, MaCafee, or malware, it could be pounding the switch, causing these types of issues.

Yes, they are changed. But that is long ago. Approx 2 years....
If that would be the case then I would have the issue on all locations...

Before the switch is restarting you see a lot of memory dump, and then it restarts...

Have you tried:
clear log
clear log nv
then reboot the switches?

Just tried, with a complete out of the box switch, and reconfigured , still same. Could it be a phone that is freaking out. I just cant believe that the whole switch restarts instead of disabling the port.

Enable SLPP-Guard on all end user ports, and set POE to the standard, disabling Legacy mode.

Real quick, there are major LLDP issues with anything below 5.9.4, and I would strongly recommend you upgrade the code or turn of LLDP status on ALL ports.

Looking over the configuration now, nothing seems amiss.

The odd thing is that I am getting the same behaviour on a ers 5520 with sw 6.3.3

We were told to stay away from 6.3.3, we went from 6.3.2 to 6.3.5 or 6.3.6.

Disable LLDP status if that is the error and see if it clears up.
I have previously posted some LLDP TLV commands we use that seem to be optimal, maybe try them out.

Hello Tank,

For now :
I seperated all voice phones on another Switch (ers 4850 / sw 5.8.1) and all Dektops (Ers sw 5.10). Leaving LLDP on I see the same issue happening.

Now I disabled LLDP completely so we will keep an eye on it.
Hopefully tomorrow I will make a SR at avaya because this is impossible. What would one do if you have 320 phones and destops on a stack switch.

After I disabled LLDP on my Avaya ers 4850 v.5.10.0.11 I received a new error. The switch restarted unexpectedly again...
