ERS 4500 & 5500 EoL?
« on: December 24, 2013, 08:33:44 AM »
Hi guys,

did anyone notice that Avaya is no longer displaying the ERS4500 and ERS5500 series switches on the avaya.com website?

Has anyone received an official EoL notice?
Kind regards,

No EOS notice.
It's not on the drop-downs, but they are still listed when you go to Enterprise /Ethernet Routing Switches.

No, they are still available.

They are not end of life, but the newer switches ( 5600's and 4800's ) have more RAM, more processing power, more flash memory.  They are just more flexable.  The 5500's and 4500's were and still are great switches, but they just won't have the future capabilities that the newer lines have.  It will be many years yet before the old switches are out of service.  Code will be released for them for a long time to come still.
