ERS 3549 Switch Hanging
« on: November 12, 2014, 07:29:35 PM »
Just FYI, but Avaya has put out a product support notice for ERS 3549 and 3549-PWR switches.  It seems that if the diagnostic version is pre-1.0.0.15, it could lockup during power-up diagnostics.  It should take a reboot to get around the issue.  But this could be a real pain at remote sites if their switch doesn't boot up.  To fix the issue, upgrade your diagnostic image to v1.0.0.15 or later.

I'm fairly sure I saw this once on an ERS3524GT-PWR+. We had a power cut and the 3524 didn't come back up. When I went down I couldn't get anything from it. I rebooted it and again it didn't come up, although the lights appeared normal.

In the end I then set up my console cable and rebooted it again, at which point it booted normally- so I never saw any console errors. It hasn't failed since then but I don't think we've had any power cuts since then either.

Good to know that there is a new firmware for the 49 port switches, I assume it will probably fix that one also.
