Hi all.

I'm almost embarrassed to ask this question.  However, I've noticed that when adding a static route on the ERS 8600 in the EDM, you are not allowed any value for the Metric other than 1.  Up to release 5.1.8.x, using the JDM you could have specified whatever Metric that was required.

However, with Release 7.2.x, only a Metric of 1 is allowed in the EDM.  I've also noticed that using the ACLI, there is no optional parameter for specifying the metric.

ERS-8806:5(config)#ip route ?
  enable          Enable the route.
  local-next-hop  Enable static route local-next-hop
  preference      Route preference
weight          Create a route;cost of hops
ERS-8806:5(config)#ip route

Can anyone explain what's going on here?

I am not super familiar with 8800 5.1, but I looked at the router configuration syntax. Weight is synonymous with metric.
