blocking mdns
« on: March 01, 2015, 11:07:45 AM »
Hi,

I'm facing problem with DHCP server, the response time from the server is very high which cause a real problem on the network performance. after troubleshooting, it found out that a MDNS protocol from the users side is causing the issue. a huge multicast from the users to the DHCP server.

we have avaya 8600 as core and 7 distribution switch mixed 8300/8600. my question:
1- what is the practical solution for such a problem, is the option of blocking protocols supported by Avaya 8600/8300.
2- Should I block it from the distribution side or the core side. note, the Vlans causing the problem are in the core.
3- if I blocked this protocol would it affect the connectivity of the users..

regards,
