BGP on 8600s
« on: September 05, 2014, 05:49:06 AM »
Hi all,

We're migrating our WAN to an MPLS solution provided by a 3rd party vendor.

They want to share routes via OSPF, but I'd rather have the comfort of using BGP so that we only accept routes on our terms (I really don't want them advertising a default route "by accident" for example)

Its been a few years since I've done BGP (last time was on Juniper routers and BayRS) and never on an 8600.

Does anyone have a sample config that they're happy to share ?

I also seem to remember that there was a requirement on the 8600 to disable / enable the accept policy when making a change to the prefix lists (not ideal if we're planning on doing site migrations during the working day) ?

We're currently running 7.1.3.10 and have 8692CPU cards. I anticipate around 300 routes

Cheers in advance

Bez

Thanks for that Paul.

Can anyone answer the question as to whether adding new routes to the accept policy would need a policy reset and therefore cause an interruption to service ?

Also, any sample configs would be gratefully received ;)

Cheers
