Announced official at last INTEROP in Las Vegas and shown live at ATF in Orlando this year,

and now just as information for all who not have this information before:

If you could hear me, I just squeed in my cubicle like a fanboy and my co-workers are asking me if something's wrong.  :)

Just happy to see Avaya bring out something really new that's not another 24 or 48 port switch.

Very cool Device.

When it comes to 10 Gig connectivity it replaces an ERS8800.
I also like that Avaya is going back to the old Nortel grey :)

Does anybody know when the VSP 8284 become public available (GA).

Itīs always the networks fault!

Hi Dominik,

4 weeks ago the VSP-8k was still in dark color.
So far as I know that box will be available around June/July this year.

I also did a beta test with a new VSP Modell that will come out in May.
The beta devices had come in black, but the final will come out in grey.
So it looks like that all new VSP modells will be grey again.

Based on the picture I suugest you already got your hands on the new VSP8284, can you share any informations about your impressions of the device , that not brings you in trouble with a NDA agreement ?

I saw that box at the ATF in Orlando but I did not had access to that.

The only information what I can share is still available here in the Forum (Avaya Technology Forum 2014 (Presentations)) via:

I saw it mentioned in one of the presentations from this year's ATF. It does look like a beast of a switch. Has anyone seen the specs - switch fabric etc.? I'm sure it has some serious horsepower under the hood.

80 10G ports!! I could understand Telair's reaction (I think he had a switch-gasm)!  :)
