55xx vs 56xx software
« on: May 19, 2017, 01:37:37 PM »
I'm migrating from a 5530-24TFD & 5520-48T-PWR stacked to a 5632 and 5698 stack. Answered my first question by reading some.

Also my 5500 series stack is at 6.3.3 and my 5600 stack is at 6.0. I was thinking of making a 5530 base and having it auto-upgrade the 5600 stack, but I read that the 5600 stack must be set as base. Is that a rule, or just a suggeston? I figured it would be easier than going through the upgrade bit again.

The 5500 series stops at 6.3.X code, while the 5600 series continues onward to 6.6.X code which includes SPB Proxy.
I would build it all fresh on the bench and tftp the code, especially since the diagnostics won't be auto-upgraded with the code.

That's what I ended up doing, thanks. Replaced a 5530-24TFD and 5520-48PWR with a 5632 and 5698-PWR.
