Avaya ERS 8800 IST-SMLT and Juniper LACP
« on: October 29, 2013, 11:09:04 AM »
Hi

I am configuring redundant 8800 core switch with IST , SMLT & VRRP (active & backup master). The 2 core 8800 has to connect to single Juniper srx Firewall. What is best recommended configuration.

Thanks in advance
Regards
Fizal

Use LACP over SMLt on the Avaya side and LACP on the Juniper side.

In fact LACP is an open standard you should have no trouble with that constillation.

How many Links do you want to use ?
wich SW Version do you have running on your ERS8k ?
Do you have ACLI or NativePP CLI mode on your ERS8800 ?

Here is a link to a document that shows detailed informations about SMLT configurations:
https://downloads.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100174174

If you have not a lot of expierence with Avaya SMLT, the most easy way to configure a smlt is via the EDM
graphical configuration interface.

Hi,

If you want to do it easy, just create a simple SMLT from Avaya device side and an a simple aeX interface on your SRX. It works for me ;)
