avaya 8010, slow with in vlan and intervlan commication
« on: May 16, 2013, 04:31:34 AM »
When I try to copy a file from one server to the other server attached to the same layer3 8010 switch. The data transfer rate i get is really slow. Around 7.5 MB intervlan data rate and around 50 MB with in vlan. The client has told me that they use to copy files at 100MB in the past on a different layer3 switch. Does anyone know what could be causing the problem???

Thanks in advance

Hi sajidbkhan,

I would first check the interface settings on the server and the switch to make sure they are set to the same speeds and no errors are seen?

Hi Flintstone,

I will do that. However, I have a question. If the ports speed are not the same don't you think the communication would have not been possible in the first place. I am receiving data but its too slow.

     Thanks

Hi sajidbkhan,

If the port speeds were unable to auto-negotiate for some reason, so one port is half-duplex, then that could explain the slow data transfer?  You should see lots of errors I.e collisions.
