Hi all,
I'm running a mix of 3500, 4500, and 5000 series switches, and I've been trying to setup VPFM to give me useful information. So far, it's been very much a "meh..." experience, especially considering how much money I paid for it. Bugs, annoyances, and just wrong data have put a sour taste in my mouth.
What is the general consensus on SNMP monitoring software for Avaya switches other than VPFM? I just want something relatively simple to show me alerts, events, port stats, etc, for these switches. I'm not necessarily looking for an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink suite that monitors VMWare, Windows servers, temperature, blood pressure, etc, etc.
Years ago when we were running HP 4000/8000 switches, I absolutely loved the free HP Top Tools for Hubs and Switches that came with the switches. It was the bee's knees, and pretty much worked out of the box. But that's ancient software now, and HP's offerings for monitoring have gotten "fractured" (to be polite) since then.
So can anyone recommend something (even if it costs $) that does a good job monitoring Avaya switches without needing 2 months to get it setup and working? Or have I just asked for the impossible?
Thanks,
Dave
