ADAC implementation changes between 5.1.0.014 and 6.3.0.012
« on: August 13, 2013, 07:04:08 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to upgrade my 5520-48T-PWR stacks from 5.1.0.014 to 6.3.0.012.  I have had ADAC working for quite a while on the current 5.1 firmware  However, the config options seem to be quite different for the 6.3 software, of course the GUI changed, but even the CLI output for the ADAC section seems to be much different.  So far I have not gotten my IP phone working on 6.3 using the test stack I have here in my cube, which otherwise seems to be working great on the new software.

Here is the CLI output from the ADAC section when doing the "show run" command on 5.1:

!

And here is the CLI output from the ADAC section when running the "show run" command on 6.3:

! *** ADAC ***

That's it!!

What I am doing wrong here...

Ok it would help if I actually enabled ADAC on the port I was plugging my phone into, duh.

!
! *** ADAC ***
!
interface FastEthernet ALL
adac port X/XX enable
exit
adac voice-vlan XXXX
adac uplink-port X/XX
adac op-mode tagged-frames
adac enable
5520-48T-PWR#

But it still doesn't work, tells me the server is unreachable.  Works fine if I plug it back in to the production port running 5.1.  Blarrrrgggggghhhhhh....

Never mind, I figured out that in 6.3 you have to specify that you want the verbose mode from the CLI when doing a show run, and that I had to put all the options there that were in the 5.1 display by going into "interface FastEthernet all" from the "config term" section.

I wish you could make it all work from the GUI but I guess that's just not an option with our config.

Here's what it looks like now...with the phone working.

I guess before I go, is there a better or more standard way of doing this?  We have the frames for the desktop network untagged and the VOIP frames tagged, but that requires us to manually configure the phones with our configuration.

There's an updated post for 6.3 software here;

http://blog.michaelfmcnamara.com/2013/02/avaya-ethernet-routing-switch-4800-series-configuration-template/

There's also a post discussing the auto-provisioning options;

http://blog.michaelfmcnamara.com/2012/07/auto-provisioning-avaya-ip-phones/

We install hundreds of IP phones per project and the only information we ever provide is the Node and TN information once it boots up. You could also automate last bit as well if you so choose to.

Good Luck!
