8612XLRS blades not coming up in 8610 chassis

Purchased two 8612XLRS blades for two 8610 chassis. Both chassis running 5.1.8.3
DM sees the blades when installed but they will not go on-line
Reading a previous suggestion it was mentioned to upgrade the firmware/PIM for these blades
Put in the update command and the message came back saying the file was found and it will take "several minutes"
It has been 2 hours and the rotating prompt is still rotating. I assume that this process should not take this length of time.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Been a long time, but I think you needed the .dld files in flash for certain blades (like the R's or RS's).
Each blade had a specific dld file.
Found this in a pdf for v5.1.8:
Run-time image for RS modules p80k5180.dld 1679776(size in bytes)

Thank you sir for the response.
The file you mention is in place in /flash and on the /pcmcia card
I do not get an error message but I guess the update procedure I am trying to call to update the PIM is not that intelligent to give out hints.
I think I will try looking at the logs.
