5530's most stable firmware
« on: September 20, 2013, 06:13:39 PM »
5530-24TFD    FW - 6.0.0.10 : SW - 6.2.1.003

I recently had a base unit with the above firmware do a 'reboot' midday.  Avaya didn't have a specific fix but told me to update firmware.  This firmware has been very stable (though dated) and I am wondering what others are running on their 5530's that is stable?  I want to proceed with caution as these are used throughout the campus' distribution with VRRP.  Thanks for any feedback, cheers!

Ian

I have been running v6.2.7 now for a while on a number of switches and it has been very nice to me.

Telair - What's your thoughts on 6.3.1 and the advance license? Just static routes for now and looking to implement OSPF later on.

Software v6.3.2 is out now and while I love the new features the v6.3 code stream brings there are still some serious bugs in the code that needs to be fixed.  They need to bring out a v6.3.3 that fixes the same bugs that v6.2.7 fixed when it came out.  Until then I can't recommend it to be used in a serious production environment.

Will agree with Telair; at least 6.2.6 or 6.2.7 are very good stable releases.  I have quite a few 5520s and a 5698 with Advanced Routing licenses running on these code versions with no issues. One major addition in the 6.3 code is the addition of Circuitless IP interfaces, but note that fixes in 6.2.7 are not included in 6.3.2 code, again as Telair states.
