wake on lan between vlans
« on: February 08, 2015, 06:55:30 PM »
I will need to enable wake on lan in my network that is composed of several vlan.we have nortel switches. my question is: how to send magic packets between vlans, without enable IP directed broadcast. We thought about putting a computer in every vlan, but we find it's not a very good idea. all suggestions are welcome. thank you in advance.

You must have directed IP broadcast enabled for Wake on LAN to function properly, or (as you alluded to) you must source the packet from the local network.
